Pick of the Week: Sequin Jacket

I spotted this extremely cute Ann Taylor jacket hanging on one of the multiple rails in the fashion cupboard of my office. We were working on a black and white styling project so our closet was as monochromatic as an old photograph. Regardless, my eyes and heart discovered it the minute I stepped in. With all it's sparkle, how could I not spot it? The jacket is such a statement in itself that there's no doubt it will brighten up any outfit. Style it with a pair of cute high waisted black shorts (like these ones from Zara), a plain shirt, let it be black or white or a popping colour, and a pretty pair of flat pumps or loafers. Uber...

Chic Simplicity

I consider myself to have a very simple style. Far from an over-the-top complication, I aim for a chic simplicity, not only in my outfits, but also in my conversations and writings. Since so much has been said about the Isabel Marant for H&M Collection already, I really don’t think I should add anymore blah, blah to the incomprehensible noise. So in my search for simplicity, there’s really only one thing I want to say about this post: Enjoy!

Pick of the Week: Typhoon

If you know me well enough, you know that I have a weakness for shoes. Let them be loafers, lace-ups, boots, or heels… especially heels. I’ve been told, by very qualified sources, that I have a good eye for spotting amazing shoes.

If you know me a little bit deeper, you know that I have an even bigger weakness when it comes to Jimmy Choo‘s, because what is there not to love about them? Okay, maybe they are not the Nike Airs of high heels (I give that credit to Zanotti’s.) But in terms of beauty… well, do I really need to explain?

Last July, at their Resort 2014 Press Day in London, I was awestruck. Mirrored clutches with big prints of lips and champagne glasses, stilettos in delicious pastel hues, a few bows here and a few sparkles there… Everything, even their new offices, was beautiful! One of the styles that caught my eye was Typhoon: a three coloured pointy-toe heel with two sensuous straps that wrap around the foot firmly. Out of their multiple colour combinations, this is my favourite one. Without a doubt, a little piece of perfection!

The Reds of Christmas

December is here and with Black Friday mania finally out of our systems, we can really focus on Christmas, my favourite time of the year! It is the season that brings the greens of the sturdy pines, the whites of the glinting lights, and the reds of the ho-ho-hoes. Like the shocking, happy red of my Kate Spade coat. The story of this coat is somewhat amusing, but I prefer to keep it on the low… It is one of those stories that I rather tell face to face and in the confidence of close friendship. However, I can say this much, it came to me as a result of my job, and of having a pretty cool boss. It was one of those little perks of working in fashion. I came to the office one morning to find two neatly folded coats lying on the top of my spotless desk. And on top of them, a post-it that read: “I think these will look Great on you. xx”. It was not Christmas, but it surely felt like it!

Pick of the Week: Friendship bracelets

Every so often I come across tiny and not so tiny fashion fixations. I obsess over a particular piece in such a way that no matter what, I just can't shake it out of my head. Strangely, I have come to see these obsessions as a good sign. As a "You will not regret it" type of sign. These Astley Clarke friendship bracelets are definitely one of my fashion fixations. It has been over a year and a half since I first spotted them, and I'm still yearning over them! I love their delicate and effortless look. I love the tiny, intricate pendants that dangle right at the clasp. I love how they all represent a profound and positive notion: hope,...

Oldschool Inspiration

Throwbacks are fun. I enjoy flipping through pictures and reliving moments; old pictures that take me to happy places. I always gather something good out of them. A good feeling, a good resolution, a good laugh. Last time I flipped through my High School photos, I was unexpectedly inspired. Even though I was never a fashionable teenager, looking back at my friends and myself, I got the urge of wearing a kilt again. As ugly and unstylish as it seemed to me back then, I couldn’t help myself from coveting it now, and even more so as tartan is such a current trend. Precisely because of that, I thought that finding a cute mini kilt would be a piece of cake. But I was wrong. All my efforts were futile. Until one day, a friend of mine offered to pass on to me her old High School kilt. She said she had never worn it since after graduation and she definitely never would again. I was thrilled! One girl’s trash is another girl’s treasure! So I styled the old school kilt according to my own personal coordinates. I had put so much work into chasing after one, that wearing it felt just as exciting as a first day of school!

Pick of the Week

I have been lusting over boyfriends lately. Boyfriend jeans that is. BF distressed jeans to be precise. The slouchiness and the shreds create an "I don't care" look that is easy, comfortable, and stylish.  As shabby as they may seem, they are more versatile than what some may think. Want to dress them up? Throw a cute little jacket or blazer on, or simply put on your pointy stilettos. Want to dress them down? Pair them with comfy ballet flats and a tank top or a t-shirt. Here are three styles that I like. Which one is your favourite?  Últimamente he estado deseando un buen par de boyfriend jeans. Boyfriend jeans rasgados, para ser exactos. Y es que, el aire desgarbado de...

Autumn Rush

They say that in Ontario, fall is the most beautiful season of the year. One of the things Canada should be proud of is its awestrucking landscapes. And when autumn hits, the breathtaking rushes rise. Like adrenaline, all the warm hues of reds, oranges, and yellows spread quickly to every little leaf in sight. And then they fall, and the temperatures with them. Leaving only a feeling of bareness that we all try to fight off with layers of bulky warm clothes.

Pick of the Week: Oxford shoes

Last Summer, I threw out my beloved pair of tan leather oxfords. It was a tough, emotional decision, but it had to be done. The shoes were so trashed, they were more like shoe corpses. They had lived and proudly served their mission for over two years. They had gone everywhere, and had bravely defied every condition imaginable: dry sand, deep puddles, slushy snow, alcohol spills...

A Mid-day Impulse

"Great! I can go back to using my old rings again, the ones that don't fit me anymore," was my friend Maggie's reaction to my new pairs of rings. I couldn't help but laugh. This was the first time I bought mid-finger rings, it was actually more of a thoughtless impulse than a real necessity.  I love them though, they're just so Rock&Rollish cool! Now, If you are going to be a mid-finger ring thoughtless-impulse-buyer like me, I suggest that you keep it simple. "¡Bien!¡Al fin puedo volver a usar los anillos que se me habían quedado pequeños!", fue la reacción de mi amiga Maggie al ver mis nuevos anillos. La verdad es que esta es la primera vez que me compro...
