Have I ever told you that I was once obsessed with interior design? I would spend hours watching Divine Design and Design on a Dime yearning over the breathtaking transformations, and desiring to one day create sickly beautiful ambiances as the ones that Candice Olson so effortlessly delivered. As life happened, my career steered on a different path, but my appreciation and love of masterful interiors has never left me. I have to say, this is probably one of the reasons why, Lobby, a chic restaurant in the heart of San Salvador, has quickly become one of my favourite places to go to. So don’t be surprised if you see me drinking a few cocktails, or having a big mouthful of their succulent hummus and muhammara any time soon!
Picture yourself making a great entrance into the lobby of a 1930’s hotel, welcomed by a solicitous butler, who instantly snatches your leather luggage off you. The moment you walk up to concierge, images come and go in your head that reminisce the luxurious design of The Grand Budapest Hotel, with its impeccable furniture, luscious details, and harmonious aesthetic. Every wall -even those in the restrooms-, light fixture, and sound at Lobby -one of the new must-go-to restaurants in the heart of San Salvador- has been carefully selected to create the atmosphere of a bygone setting.
Dress code: Smart; because this, high heel friendly bar and restaurant, is the perfect excuse to dress up, and flaunt your latest uber stylish purchases. The over all ambiance is one that will make you want to stay and lounge.
And the desire to stick around pays off when their delicious entrees, main courses, and desserts come steaming out of the kitchen, with their wafting aromas. However, should food be not what your body is asking for, but something a little bit stronger instead, the bar will be a perfect fit for you. A personal favourite: their fruit flavoured gin & tonics, you just can’t go wrong. Oh!… And just as a final recommendation, definitely book a reservation, the place gets packed… EVERY NIGHT.
PS: Be sure to stay tuned as I will be sharing with you more outfits shot at Lobby, so you can take in a bit more of the place!
Last Tuesday was the opening of Monica Arguedas’ new store. For those of you who are wondering, she is a young salvadoran designer known originally for her swimwear, but who then also stepped into the eveningwear market. For the occasion, I wore a maxi boho inspired dress from Express. A piece that immediately made me fall in love, so much so I didn’t want to take it off.
