Abstract Imagery

The moment I saw these pants, I knew how I wanted to style them. Forget the same-print boxy top that was hanging right next to them, these were begging to be paired with a plain crop top, a long cardigan or vest, and a seductive pair of pumps. Surely enough, when I put it all together, it looked even better than what I had pictured. It is amazing how a sharp look can boost your confidence and give you a change of attitude. When my reflection in the mirror met my eyes, it immediately grinned back at me in cahoots.  En el mismo momento en que vi estos pantalones, supe, sin duda alguna, cómo quería combinarlos. A partir de ellos, dibujé mentalmente un look que...

Lost

_MG_6740

A few weeks ago I had the chance of shooting at a very dear location in one of the high points of the city. Surrounded by an abundant nature, it’s so easy to get lost in your dreams, and be at awe with the beauty of creation. I wish you all a very happy day!

A huge hug!

Pink Business

IMG_0737

One of my favourite pieces for a business look are wide leg trousers, specially when they are high waisted. They make you look taller, stronger and ready to tackle anything. I paired a dusty pink pair with a black top, a printed scarf and snake print stilettos, which add a playful touch to the combo.

Citric

Colour blocking is a fun way of dressing up. It is exciting to match different tones to create a cool combo. I went for sober hues on my clothes and then added a citric punch with the loafers. Bold and chic.

Wide Leg

I have been hunting for my Christmas and New Year’s outfits since the last weeks of November, but this year the task has proven to be harder than the one before. I have looked online, I have looked on my trip to Spain and to the UK, I have looked on local shops and everywhere I could think of. It was hard, particularly because I did not want to fall on my usual head-to-toe black ensemble. I finally did come across a perfect gold, shimmering, super sexy dress; however, along the way I bumped into perfectly nice and flattering black options that, of course, I thought of sharing with you. So excuse me if you may, but I will now bombard you with a few black outfit ideas for your multiple Holiday gatherings. Let the looks roll!

PS: If you are dying to see what my Christmas gold number is, follow me on Instagram as @AndreaNBonilla and stay tuned 😀

Christmas Time

Navy and red is always a good match. I just added a few touches of gold to the look to give it a bit of shine. A look ideal for any of the Christmas parties and cocktails.

Window Pane

IMG_8808

It feels so good when you find a pair of trousers that fit you perfectly, make your legs look longer, and your figure, leaner. Not only does this pair’s window pane print achieves perfection, but the cut is everything! They are so flattering, that I will be fighting myself to give them a break. They are an ideal style staple.

Washed Out

As I have mentioned before, denim is having a major comeback, not that it ever left our closets for good, but if there was a moment for you to accrue denim pieces this is it! A few weeks back, I found a real treasure on the racks of Almacenes Simán (by far, the most relevant Salvadoran department store). These trousers/jeans are a chic take on denim. They elongate your figure, style up your look and still manage to be as comfortable as it gets. I LOVE, love, love them, and hope that you do as well!

Roger’s Innovation Adoption Curve

IMG_3713

They say we are creatures of habits. And I have proven that, when it comes to fashion we are too. Have you ever witnessed a trend happen? When I was back in Uni, one of my professors taught us about Roger’s Innovation Adoption Curve. I was thinking that we can perfectly translate that graph to the way fashion works. The curve shows how people tend to react to innovations, or, in our case, to trends.

– At the beginning, you will have the Innovators, in fashion this would be the big icons, say Lupita Nyong’o, Giovanna Battaglia, Karlie Kloss, Chiara Ferragni, and so on… They are willing to take risks, have the highest social status, are social, and have close contact to scientific sources, or, in our case, designers.

– Close behind them, you will find the Early Adopters. They too belong to high social status, and are big opinion leaders, but play it a little bit more safe than innovators.

Early Majority refers to those who are open to trends but will test the waters first. After a certain trend has been out for a while, an early adopter will give it a try.

–  The skeptic ones come after, they are the Late Majority. These can also be referred to as the herd. They will not jump at every trend, and will only try it after the majority of society has done it. They are also probably scared of what others might say.

Laggards. When I think of laggards, I, for some silly reason, picture them as lizards. I can see them watching society from their own tree, not moving, just skeptically watching and criticizing it with their big, see-it-all eyes. They hate change, and stick to their own ways. If they do try a trend, it will be a loooong time after it has been out.

Now, why am I bringing all of this up? In my lifetime, I have seen a fair amount of trends come in and out of fashion. And I have to admit I used to be more of a laggard than anything else. However I have moved out of said category, for no other reason than because fashion makes me happy. Nevertheless, I have also stayed true to what I like, and to what I don’t; to what flatters me, and to what doesn’t. I wanted to encourage you all to try new things. Yes, change may be scary; but most times it will bring something better and amazing into our lives. I used to be super skeptic about crop tops -I really don’t know why, because, hell!, they accentuate one of our best areas- but now, I don’t want to put them down! It is all a matter of making it work for you, your body, and your circumstances. So, why not just give it try?

Covetable

IMG_2736

I am not much of a trousers girl, but the minute I spotted this pair, I knew I had to have them. They were lurking on the hanger behind a couple of white blouses. Crisp, clean. “It is the last pair”, pointed out one of the shop girls as she saw me coveting them. They were a size too small. But ladies, when we really want something, we don’t mind sweating a little bit for it. I had to squeeze myself in. Yes they were a size too small, but those oh so straight legs that make mine look lengthier, and that high waist that makes mine look daintier… I had to have them! Besides, no one else can tell; and I am not one to complain.
